25th anniversary model # 5 of 25 ser# AA20501

The Heritage H-140 CM is a model guitar produced by Heritage Guitar Inc., a company based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, that was founded by former Gibson employees. It's essentially their version of a slightly smaller- lighter "Lester" and the H-140 is the very 1st model Guitar the Heritage guys made when they began building with their new company name in 1984. Featuring a single cutaway body, typically with a carved maple top and a Honduran Mahogany body and neck. The "CM" in the name signifies "Curly Maple", indicating the presence of a figured maple top, which actually shows in the photos.. Key Features:

  • Body: Actual Honduran Mahogany with a carved curly maple arched top. Rear body contour bevel.
  • True Nitrocellulose lacquer finish
  • Special No. 5 of only 25 made to commemorate Heritage's 25th Anniversary.
  • Label is hand signed by the original Heritage owners. (see photo)
  • Neck: One-piece Mahogany with a 24.75" scale length. 22 medium jumbo frets. 1-11/16th" nut width.
  • Special pickguard- hand bound African Ebony wood.
  • Fingerboard: African Ebony for the Anniversary model, with mother-of-pearl dot inlays.
  • Pickups: Two Duncan "59" humbuckers, known for their warm, creamy lows and clear, crisp highs.
  • Hardware: TonePro's locking Tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, Grover Rotomatic tuners, and Nickel plated hardware.
  • Construction: Built in the original, historic Parsons Street (former decades long Gibson Kalamazoo factory) using the same machinery and techniques as Gibson.

In essence, the Heritage H-140 CM is a high-quality, hand-built guitar that captures the essence of the Les Paul but with its own distinctive character, particularly due to its construction in the historic Kalamazoo factory and Heritage's own unique components. This no. 5 is in MINT condition, except for some minimal patina on the nickel plated pickup covers. add this treasure to your collection, and PLEASE play it. The original owner apparently did not do that, as there's no play wear, nor smoke odor. This is a closet queen.

From the Duncan web site:

The ’59 bridge model (SH-1) is a vintage output humbucker that’s great for rock, blues, and more. Its vintage-inspired coils give it an airy quality that is firmly in the P.A.F. family, and the alnico 5 bar magnet and vacuum wax potting make it compatible with lighter guitar strings and louder amplifiers than were ever used in the 1950s. The result is a pickup with tons of old-school tonal character, but with a brighter top end, and a slightly more compressed sound.

The ’59 neck model is one of our most popular pickups because it’s so versatile. Like its bridge-position sibling, the ’59 neck is designed in the spirit of the original P.A.F. humbuckers of the 1950s, with sweet sustain, and a warm, full sound that still possesses a clear attack. We’ve made a few refinements to slightly modernize the design and make it more adaptable to different styles. The high end is slightly boosted for improved pick-attack clarity and the mids are a little scooped for an open, smooth sound that’s great for preserving the clarity of the individual notes in a chord. The ’59 neck was born to accompany the ’59 bridge.

As with all of our P.A.F.-style pickups, the ’59 vintage output humbucker is wound on Seymour’s classic Leesona 102 pickup winding machine from the old Gibson factory in Kalamazoo, MI. where this amazing H-140 was hand crafted.
