The GUILD X150 SAVOY was a single cutaway archtop originally made between 1954 and 1965, but then reintroduced again in 1998 and made until around 2005. The X150 body is laminated curly maple; the neck is mahogany with a rosewood fretboard and block inlays. The Savoy had a single custom designed Guild HB-1 chrome plated humbucking pickup (earlier 1950s and 1960s models had different pickups), with chrome Grover tuners and Guild harp tailpiece. These guitars were crafted at the famed Guild factory in Westerly, Rhode Island, USA . The Guild X-150 Savoy was introduced in 1954 as a direct competitor to the Gibson ES-175- which seem to be "wildly" overpriced these days.. Almost half a century later, the comfortable neck, smooth tone and handsome full depth Venetian cutaway body make the Savoy an attractive choice for the serious player looking for exceptional value in a finely crafted US made instrument.

The flamed Maple, 3 ply, laminated, fully bond body is 16" at the lower bout and 3 3/8" deep. The 3 piece, mahogany bound neck is a 24 3/4" scale length, and measures 1.69" at the nut. The headstock logo has pearl inlays while the rosewood fret board has pearl block inlays and 20 frets. The original owner of this instrument removed the pickguard the day it was purchased. (so brand new condition with all the mounting hardware) The original compensated Rosewood bridge is also included along with the current bridge now on the guitar. There is some very slight fret wear and some finish chips on the bindings.(pics #17+18) Part of the binding on the top of the neck come loose, separated, and was repaired. Comes with the original Guild arched black plush hardshell case in excellent condition and the owners manual. Guitar and case stored an a non-smoking home. Setup now with new nickle stings.
