Serial No. 498, One owner who selected the wood & had it built in 1970, and optioned for Abalone inlays instead of M.O. Pearl. Maintained in a smoke free, climate controlled home lovingly. Added a L.R. Baggs I-Mix pre-amp pickups system at some point.
The neck is straight, frets are in very good condition and she plays really good. The tone is HUGE, warm and beautiful. It shows some 50+ years of light wear. About 40 years back he visited Mr. Gallagher to buy a 6 string version and Gallagher noticed some finish checking at the back of the peghead at the volute. The cracks were NOT open & he merely touched up the finish at that area. After over 40 years use the finish remains tight with no signs of cracking nor open finish checking. It's holding with no issues whatsoever. If you look close you can see the check, but you can't feel it. Quite certain it's not a problem after all these decades.
A magnificent custom instrument that plays & sounds fabulous.
